Division 2

#142

I’ve a mixture of disconnects which are definitely their end but I’ve also been having some memory error crashes something along the lines of “Unable to read instruction at MEMORY LOCATION blah blah blah”.

Actually wouldn’t start up at all yesterday. In case anyone else has this, I installed the latest GFX drivers and restarted my PC and it seemed to stop the crashes while trying to load in. It hasn’t stopped the same crash happening when I close out of the game but that doesn’t seem to be causing any issues yet.

Will hopefully be on for a bit tonight. Just loaded it up for a moment yesterday.

I have very limited experience of the original Division, bar the beta… so my comparisons are limited - but am I right in thinking that the enemies are a bit more intelligent now? I seem to remember them just standing about getting shot… now they seem better at taking cover, covering each other, and attempting flanking.

I might be completely wrong, due to reasons mentioned above.

#145

No you’re right - me and Kate wandered in to a supply drop all cocky and nearly got ourselves annihilated by one large group that split in half and put the moves on us. One group did a full frontal assault while the others circled around behind us and took up some cover on a patch of high ground.

Ended up really panicky trying to stay alive and actually ended up using my pistol and melee!!

I think i’m off ubi betas after the ghostlands wildrecon one where the driver was external to vehicles running alongside them at high speed, including the helicopter that never started up and just floated through the air, creaking quietly in the night while it’s pilot ran through the sky behind it.

Not sure how easy these would be to judge from the beta but i’m curious to know:

  • is difficulty still based on bullet sponge-ness; e.g. later enemies are earlier enemies, btu doing higher damage and with a stack of health and armour.
  • is the story delivered in more than a few cutscenes and audio clips scattered about? Like, meaningful interaction with NPCs?

I appreciate there’s going to be a lot of grind to up the amount of ‘content’ but the first one by the end just felt like ‘run to marker, shoot for a while determined by difficulty, grab loot, repeat’, so i’m hoping it’s somehow more engaging.

This gave me positive vibes…

…nevermind :frowning:

Does it have the magic watch that never turned up in the first one?

#147

I am in Didcot today so wont be able to try this until Saturday… :frowning:

haha oh god I didn’t know about any of that!

So far, pretty much yes. They add variety to enemies, given them different damage types and weapons, abilities, armour, they use tactics against you but they generally just get spongier.

Clips and cutscenes.

No sign of the magic watch.

It says a lot about wildlands that for all it’s good points the bit i got the most enjoyment from was bugs in the beta. And that on sight i can’t tell the difference between it and far cry 5.

Appreciate the responses; i feel like the gameplay is what’s getting in the way of me being excited for this

Yes that was the best bit of the game, I remember laughing my ass off. It was nice to play through once.

After you finished off the main quest line (or all missions, coincided for me) you get access to 3 lvl30 endgame equipped characters. Each has a different specialisation and access to its signature weapon. Sort of a limitted ammo special weapon with specific effects. I found it already earlier as I stumbled over it in the key mapping

Up to now I really enjoyed my time, after yesterdays chaos with the servers it was increddible fun today! I will defintely buy the game, it left a much better impression than Anthem. What game version though?

  • the new enviroment feels less empty and lots to discover, much better then the old game
  • what with the old talents? Like ammo on headshot and so on? I couldn’t find anything similar … would be a shame if we only get the perks, beside spending supplies on them there is no counter to just getting them all
  • the shooting still feels solid, maybe even slightly better? Weapons have some heft to it.
  • the settlement system is similar to the old games main base but spread to other areas,
  • I feel like my action have more imparct now, due the settlement and outpost (?), if you liberated an area you will see patrols and so on and people fighting each other, makes the whole area more lively and I feel more like a part of something then the lone wolf before
  • I love the signature weapons idea, I hope there is more to it than just weapons and grenades
  • not tried dark zone yet
  • too bad you can’t see the stats and perks for the high lvl characters
  • the new set system is much nicer than the old one BUT I didnt see crazy game changing set bonuses like with the old game? I hope they have them endgame gear
  • Bit concerned about build variety with the missing skill talents, lack of game changing set items and reduced amount of weapon talents (only one as far I can tell?). Some of it might be a result of the beta not showing everything.
  • Crafting seems nicer? The recalibration station comes back too!

Managed to have a quick go on this

Liking it so far but I have only done the first mission, the gun play seems nice IMO I like the need to control the recoil more than the first game.

Looks great on my system on ultra settings at 1920x1200 running in the 90+ FPS range outdoors and 120+ indoors

#153

Really enjoying this, definite day 1 purchase for Kate and me, even considering the Ultimate edition for both of us.

#154

I was on the fence about a day one buy to be honest but now I have actually played it I’m tempted to get in on it early!

Feels really good in combat.

#155

The combat generally is very very solid and the event the chaff enemies can be absolute bastards!

I fucking love the miniguns!
They’re just so damn fun to use and mowing down enemies as they charge in!

Rocking an RPK-74 (signature) and an MG5. Both with a tactical sight and foregrip for better accuracy.

#156

Yeh I liked the minigun, of course you did

#157

So, is it as good as the first one? Folks gonna be playing?

#158

I think it has enough to have me interested due to some of the new mechanics its telling me about in the tutorials

I’m going to play some more today but last nights quick go was enough to pique my interest in it.

#159

Dont think it has done enough for me. Will wait for anthem

#160

Gonna try and get on to this a bit later

CDKeys isn’t showing the Ultimate edition as discounted, but the full price is £91.99 according to GreenManGaming so CDKeys’ £74.99 is a hefty discount for anyone considering it - £75 is still fucking insane though.

Kate and I are on the fence about the version but we’re 100% buying in, probably a preorder shudder.
