Next gen console for half the price of a next gen graphics card?

Is that not odd?

I think if I followed some of the hype of Nvidia reveal they were expected to be at a level somewhat below the 3070. So a 2080ti!!! Lol jokes.

I saw some further suggestion of spec leaks slating the ssd.

“Technical specs as including support for 120FPS at 1440p, 4K upscaling for games, 4K media playback, support for DirectX raytracing, and a custom NVME 512GB SSD.”

From a leaked trailer for it.

I would guess it’s realistically a 1440p 60 machine that can output 120fps if the game is.

Early reports were putting the CPU the same as the Series X but GPU lower CU’s clock speed etc, less ram and obvs Digi only.

Would make for a great cheap Game Pass machine.

HOWEVER.

Haha you saw this one coming.

Sony can now price the PS5 Disc at £399 (undercut the Series X by £50) and then price the Digi at £299.

You’d have to be very invested in Game Pass offerings to choose the Series S over a Digi PS5.

The game pass is very good, and does offer a pretty decent library of games… though I just read about the Xbox all access, basically a phone contract and upgrade to new console in 2 years. Which could be good for folks who cant afford £400 upfront but a £20 a month contract is more feasible?

Finally Microsoft also confirm Series X price of $499/£449, also releasing Nov 10th and preorders live on the 22nd Sept…

You can get an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, plus 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, for £28.99 a month for 24 months or £20.99 a month for 24 months respectively, via Xbox All Access. In the UK this is exclusive to GAME and Smyths Toys, who act as the credit intermediaries.

Now your turn Sony.

Yea just saw the new adverts up

and now they have EAPlay too…

Okay that’s pretty huge… Inc with Ultimate and Game Pass for PC at no extra cost.
